What tastes like an apple and looks like a pumpkin?Pumpkin candle from an apple juice bottle - get the easy tutorial www.mysoulfulhome.comStumped...?juice jarA bottle of Martinelli's apple juice of course!  The shape, the leaves in relief on the top...do you see what I see?This a such a fun pumpkin repurpose project for adults & kids.  I have made these with both my Girl Scout troops and more at home with my two crafty gals.This is what you will need:

  • large glass bottle of Martinelli's apple juice;
  • orange tulle;
  • felt for face & leaves;
  • floral tape;
  • twine;
  • glue;
  • a dripless candle;
  • optional: paper leaves, wire, button.

 empty glass jarStart with an empty bottle with the label removed. ( getting the label off is probably the hardest part! )glasses juiceThen you need to do a lot of this. Cheers!!  Only kidding you don't have to drink all the juice to make the project!with tulleInsert  a length of tulle 15" x 60" or so ( this project is very forgiving ) into the clean jar.

withtwine

For the stem, tie twine on the top & wrap it around.  Secure twine with glue.candle feltChances are your candle will not be wide enough to fit securely into the opening, so wrap the end of the candle with floral tape & cut a square of felt or burlap to sit the candle in before inserting in bottle opening.  I used a heathered green felt & cut it with pinking shears for a "leafy" look.

top vine

To make the vine tendrils use 30" of thin wire. Wrap the wire in floral tape & twist around the top.  Use a pencil to make the curly-ques.After twisting on the 'vines', cut a 1/2"wide length of green felt & glue it around the threadings on the top of the jar ( where the cap would screw on ). This gives a nice finished look before adding the leaves.decorationsCut out your pumpkin face from the felt.  I used dark brown felt & my pinking shears.  I also purchased these pretty paper leaves from Michael's.pumpkin top close upGlue on the face & leaves.  I glued on a button for the final flourish!Pumpkin candle from an apple juice bottle - get the easy tutorial www.mysoulfulhome.comIsn't he precious? Now I know you know this but, use a dripless candle & don't leave it burning unattended as there is felt at the base.  Safety first my friends!pumpkin LaraHere is Lara's!  Precious and spooky!
